The 4th International Art Contest-Festival

MUSIC TALENT LEAGUE 2018

  Dedicated to the Centenary of Restoration of the State of Lithuania  

March 25th-30th, 2018

REGULATIONS

 

I. GENERAL REGULATIONS

1.1. The Organizer of the Contest is Ars Festa, NGO.

1.2. The Contest consists of two parts – vocal and choreography competitions.

1.3. The date and place of the Contest – March 25th–30th, 2018. Vilnius Technology and Design College, Antakalnio Str. 54, Vilnius.

1.4. The Grand Prix elections and the concert of the best performers will be filmed and broadcasted by Lithuanian National Television LRT Kultūra with announcements on the First National Television channel and LRT Kultūra. Information about the contest will be disseminated by various media outlets and on internet.

1.5. Key objectives of the Contest:

  • to promote active citizenship of Lithuanian youth and to respectably represent Lithuania to foreigners;
  • to help to create new opportunities for the young talents, to develop their artistic potential, providing them sophisticated stage equipment and advice from the professionals;
  • to let participants be assessed by the music industry professionals and to create a possibility for them to compare their skills against other participants;
  • to help build contacts and recognition within the Lithuanian music industry and with professionals from abroad;
  • to motivate students to contribute to the public cultural live of Lithuania by using their acquired theoretical knowledge in actual projects.

 

II.PROCEDURES OF THE VOCAL COMPETITION

2.1. VOCAL COMPETITION IS OPEN TO:

  • soloists, duets, vocal groups and instrumental bands;
  • the Grand Prix winners of the previous year are welcome to participate in the Grand Opening ceremony and/or GALA Concert as a special guest. Grand Prix winners are not allowed to participate in the Competition for one calendar year.

 

2.2. TERMS AND FORMS OF APPLICATION FOR VOCAL COMPETITION

Participants will have to fill out the application form on the website www.muzikostalentulyga.lt and send their song soundtracks (minus) via e-mail: info@mtl.lt by 25th of February, 2018.

Please, name the soundtrack files according to the requirements:

Name_Surname_­­ Age_The name of the song_Genre;

for example: John_Mc Donald_16_ My home_ Falk.

Vocal groups/bands instead of the name and surname have to indicate the name of the group/band.

 

2.3. VOCAL COMPETITION CATEGORIES

Each performer participates in his/her age-group:

  • Up to 7 yrs; 8 yrs; 9 yrs; 10 yrs; 11 yrs; 12 yrs; 13 yrs; 14 yrs; 15 yrs; 16 yrs; 17 yrs; 18 yrs; 19 + yrs.

The vocal group’s and band’s age-group is determined by the average age of its participants.  If a certain age-group has no sufficient number of participants, then, the Organizer has the right to merge several age-groups into one.

Participants are invited to compete according to their age-groups in the following genres/nominations:

  • pop, pop classic;
  • rock;
  • folk (authentic folk songs or folk genre songs, performed under the modern arrangement);
  • jazz and improvisation, blues and R&B;
  • musical;
  • thematic nomination of the Contest LITHUANIA, FOR YOU, dedicated to the centenary of the restoration of the state of Lithuania – songs for Lithuania.

Each participant is allowed to compete in one or two competitive categories. The duration of the song is under 3:40 minutes.

The songs may be performed “a cappella”, with a backing track or live accompaniment. Piano and drums set will be provided by the Organizer. If necessary, please, arrange any other instruments yourselves, including any additional sound gear, e.g. cubes for guitars, etc.

 

2.4. VOCAL COMPETITION CRITERIA:

  • Vocal technique (intonation, voice technique) ;
  • Performance quality and artistry;
  • Stage presence and stage culture.

The Jury will assess every performance accordingly giving points from 1 to 10. The final performance result for each performer will be set as the average point score, drawn from all Jury members.  If a Jury member is a teacher of a participant, he is not allowed to grade any performances of the entire category.

The panel of the Jury has the right to nominate more than one winner in each category.

On the Grand Final of the Contest (during the TV shooting) the performers compete for Grand Prix VOCAL awards, and three Grand Prix winners will be selected:

 Grand Prix VOCAL KIDS (among kids under 12 yrs);

  • Grand Prix VOCAL JUNIOR (among teenagers of 13-16 yrs);
  • Grand Prix VOCAL SENIOR (among participants 17+).

Candidates to Grand Prix winners are elected by a unanimous decision of the Jury.

 

2.5. PARTICIPATION FEE

NOTICE: “Performance Composition” means the number of people on the stage. If a soloist is accompanied by one live instrument, such composition is defined as “Soloist”. In all other cases, the amount of participation fee is calculated on the basis of the amount of people on the stage.

The Programme includes a Stage Master–class conducted by Oleg Lysyj (Ukraine), Art Director of Lviv Music Theater, Musical Conductor, Actor and Singer. All performers and teachers are welcome to participate in the master class free of charge. The master class will be interpreted into Lithuanian. More information about the lecturer and his subject available in part IV of the Regulations.

III. PROCEDURES OF THE CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION

 

3.1. CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION IS OPEN TO:

– Lithuanian and foreign participants: solo dancers, single couples and dance groups;

– the Grand Prix winners of the previous year are welcome to participate in the Grand Opening ceremony and/or GALA Concert as a special guest. Grand Prix winners are not allowed to participate in the Competition for one calendar year.

 

3.2. TERMS AND FORMS OF APPLICATION FOR CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION

Participants will have to fill out the application form on the website www.muzikostalentulyga.lt and send their soundtracks via Email: info@muzikostalentulyga.lt by the 25th of February, 2018.

Please, name the soundtrack files according to the requirements: Name of the group (or soloist)_Age group_ Name of the dance_Style; for example: SALTO_14-17_Space_Modern.

 

3.3. CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION CATEGORIES, STYLES AND AGE-GROUPS

Stage size is over 10 m x 10 m. The floor of stage is adapted for dancing.

Participants of the choreography competition are invited to compete according to their age-groups in the following dance styles:

  • Contemporary/modern dances (composition, created with ballet, modern ballet, jazz and modern dance techniques);
  • Street dances (street dance compositions created using all street style techniques, hip hop, breaking, popping, locking, street dance, etc.);
  • Pop Dance Category (pop, rhythm, entertainment, lindy hop, etc.);
  • Character dances (composition, created with the Character and the dance techniques of other countries of the world) / Original genre
  • Show style dances;
  • National (folk) dances.

Age-groups for the Choreography competition (preliminary division):

  • Under 7 yrs, 8-10 yrs, 11-13 yrs, 14-17 yrs, 18+ yrs.

The age-groups may be changed depending on the number of participants in each group. Dance group’s age-group is determined by the average age of participants in the group.

Every participant can perform one or two dances in different dance styles. The duration of the performance is under 4 minutes.

 

3.4. CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION CRITERIA:

  • rendering of dance elements and the technique;
  • sense of dance movement and style;
  • rhythm;
  • sense of music and artistic skills.

The Jury will assess every performance accordingly giving points from 1 to 10. The final performance result for each performer will be set as the average point score, drawn from all Jury members.  If a Jury member is a teacher of a participant, he is not allowed to grade any performances of the entire category.

  • Grand Prix DANCE KIDS (among kids under 13 yrs);

IV. PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME

(SAME FOR THE PARTICIPANTS OF VOCAL AND CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITIONS)

17.00 – 19.00                     Grand Opening of the Festival.

All participants, family members, teachers are welcome. Entry is free.

A red carpet, photo session, Show programme, announcement of nominations, sparkling wine (for adults) and special cake (for children) are waiting for you at the formal ceremony.

March 26th, 2018

Vocal competition part I:   soloists of age-group under 14 yrs (included);

all vocal groups of age-group under 12 yrs (included).

 

March 27th, 2018

Vocal competition part II:  soloists of age-group 15 yrs and 15+ ;

all vocal groups of age-group 13 yrs and 13+.

 

Master Class of stage image for vocalists.  Seminar conducted by Oleg Lysyj (Ukraine), Art Director of Lviv Music Theater, Musical Conductor, Actor and Singer. All performers and teachers are welcome to participate in the seminar free of charge. The seminar will be interpreted into Lithuanian.

Topics:

  • Perception of the stage space;
  • Pronounciation and articulation;
  • Gesturing on stage;
  • Management of scenic excitement;
  • Individual acting assignments.

 

March 28th, 2018

Choreography competition. Dancers of all age-groups and all styles.

 

Master Class of stage image for vocalists. (The same programme as of March 27th). Lecturer – Oleg Lysyj (Ukraine).

 

March 29th, 2018

TV shooting. MTL Grand Prix VOCAL and MTL Grand Prix DANCE nomination of the winners.

 

March 30th, 2018

TV shooting. Gala concert.

IMPORTANT NOTE! Final copy of the programme will be announced after the registration of participants is completed, i.e. before March 1th, 2018. Some changes might appear in the preliminary programme due to the final number of the participants.

 

 V. AWARDS

5.1. All competition participants and pedagogues will be awarded a diploma and sponsors gifts.

5.2. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and diploma nominees are assigned in each category. These winners are awarded a Winner Cup and/or Medal, set up by the Organizers. The panel of Jury reserves the right to nominate more than one winner in each age-group.

5.3. The best vocal performances will be awarded Winner Cups and a cash prize:

  • Grand Prix VOCAL KIDS (among kids under 12 yrs);
  • Grand Prix VOCAL JUNIOR (among teenagers of 13-16 yrs);
  • Grand Prix VOCAL SENIOR (among performers 17+).

Grand Prix winners will receive their awards during the TV shooting.

5.4. The best choreography performances will be awarded Winner Cups and a cash prize:

  • Grand Prix DANCE KIDS (among kids under 13 yrs);
  • Grand Prix DANCE SENIOR (among participants of 14 yrs and 14+).

Grand Prix winners will receive their awards during the TV shooting.

5.5. Contest Partners’ prize, established by Vilnius Technology and Design College – video clip/clips for the most attractive performance. Nominees will be elected by the Prize founders.

5.6. Special prizes – gift vouchers for participation in other international contests and festivals. Nominees will be elected by the Prize founders.

5.7. 1st place winner of each category will be invited to the TV shooting at the concert of finalists. The remaining list of participants invited to the filming of the finalists concert will be announced by the Organizer depending on the time left for shooting.

5.8.  After the event the Organizer will issue a magazine with photos of all participants. Video records of the performances may be ordered in advance for a fee of 10 EUR. Also, high resolution photos made by professional photographers are available to purchase.

5.9. The best performers will be promoted and invited to participate in other international music events and public concerts.

 

VI.LIVING COSTS

6.1. The Organizer provides 2 types of hotels:

1.Package A.                      3* Hotel with breakfast in the Old Town of Vilnius, close to the bus and railway stations:

  • The price in double- or triple-room during the period in March 25th – 30th, 2018 is 180 EUR/person;
  • You can also choose less days for your stay upon request. The price for 1 day in double- or triple-room is 36 EUR/person;
  • Extra charge for a single room is 16 EUR/day;
  • Other meals of 7 EUR/day/person can be arranged upon request;
  • Tour to the old capital of Lithuania Trakai with visiting of the castle in the lake – upon request 25 EUR / person

The price includes bed and breakfast, transfer to the Contest venue and back to the Hotel.

  1. Package B. 2* Hotel with breakfast in the Old Town of Vilnius:
  • The price in double- or triple- or quadruple room during the period in March 25th – 30th, 2018 is 130 EUR/person;
  • You can also choose less days for your stay upon request. The price for 1 day in double- or triple-room is 26 EUR/person;
  • Other meals of 7 EUR/day/person can be arranged upon request;
  • Tour to the old capital of Lithuania Trakai with visiting of the castle in the lake – upon request 25 EUR / person

The price includes bed and breakfast, transfer to the Contest venue and back to the Hotel.

 

VII. FINAL REGULATIONS

 

7.1. Travel and accommodation expenses are covered by the participants and their accompanies.

7.2. The Organizer reserves the right to amend the Programme and the Regulations, if necessary.

7.3. The Organizer reserves the right to all TV shows and radio broadcasts, publishing, filming and photographing of participants free of any extra charge.

7.4. The performers take all the responsibility for the copyrights of their songs.
